Hart Tournament Results

Posted October 15th, 2007

The Marching Patriots did very well in Valencia, placing 2nd in Band, 2nd in Percussion, and 3rd in Color Guard in the 4A division. Great job everyone!

On the trip to Valencia the drum major stand jumped off the trailer and attempted to commit suicide in the middle of I5. Thankfully the band parents and Mr. McGuire were able to save it.

Barnes & Noble Book Faire

Posted August 26th, 2007

Our first fundraiser for this year is going to be a book faire at Barnes & Noble. There will be vouchers passed out to the students on Tuesday, September 4. We will also have some available on Back to School night, September 10. The book faire will take place on September 15 and 16, 2007. All you are required to do is pass out as many vouchers (we are hoping that each student will pass out at least 10 vouchers) as you can to your friends and family. Go to Barnes & Noble on the 15th or 16th of September and shop. Turn in the voucher when you make your purchase and the band profits.

Should you run out of vouchers, you can print your own from this website by going to the Fund Raisers section.

This is a great opportunity to get those back to school books you will need and help the band at the same time. We hope to see you there.

Marching in the Outback!

Posted February 1st, 2007

We have a new exciting Fundraiser coming up! We will be selling "To Go" dinners from Outback Steakhouse for pick up on February 27th only. The tickets will be sold at $10.00 each for a dinner that is valued at $15.00. All the kids have to do is sell the tickets, circle the meat choice on the small stub, tear off the large ticket and give it to the purchaser. The small stubs then needs to be returned in the envelope provided to the lockbox in the band room by February 16th. Outback Steakhouse does the rest! How easy is that!

The purchaser of the ticket is then responsible for calling Outback Steakhouse on February 27th between 3:00-4:30 pm to order their dinner(s) for pick-up. The full instructions are on the tickets.

Questions? Call Teresa Leal (330-4371) or Dawn Vasquez (477-4421).

Welcome Back!

Posted January 10th, 2007

Hopefully everyone had a safe and wonderful Winter Break. Unfortunately, it is time to get back to business:

  1. Tattoos/Body Art are to be turned in no later then January 16, 2007. Either the tattoos or the money must be turned in. Failure to do so will result in holding of grades, as well as other privileges.

  2. Winter Unit Contributions: Winter Guard contribution is $400.00 and Winter Drumline contributions are $300.00. A statement has been sent to those students identified as participating in these units. A payment schedule was included with that statement.

  3. Reminder to Parents: We still need your help. Props for the winter units will need to be done, we will be having competitions stating soon, chaperones, drivers and meals will be needed. Let's not forget that we also have continuing fundraisers for the benefit of ALL the students. Keep in mind that a trip to Hawaii is in the works for next year. The more fundraising we can do, the less the cost to the individual student and a better opportunity for all the band/colorguard students to get to go.

  4. Monthly Band Booster meetings are every second Monday of each month. We hope to see you there.

The Christmas Tree Pick-up was a success. For those who participated, thank you for your time and energy. A special thank you to the Prestage family and Vasquez family for hosting our canvasing groups.

Fireworks! Fireworks! Fireworks!

Posted May 22nd, 2006

Did you know the all LHS Instrumental Music students have or have had the opportunity to have fireworks pre-sale tickets? These have been given out to students for several weeks now. If you do not have yours and would like some to sell yourself, have your student contact the Band Office. Or, contact Mr. DeFede at hegner1@earthlink.net. Friends, family, co-workers, and anyone you can think of should be contacted. I would like a goal for every student in our program to sell at least $100 in pre-sale tickets.

This is a MAJOR FUND RAISER for our program. The profit generated from the Fireworks sale first and foremost is applied to the paying of our Instructional Staff. Money left over goes towards general budget items. The more pre-sale tickets we sell, the better it is for all of our students.

We operate our booth at the Albertson's parking lot, corner of Rosedale and Allen from July 1st through the end of July 4th. We need workers (18 years of age and older) to man the booth in shifts of two to four hours each. Let Mr. DeFede know that you are interested. If you can't actually work the booth, you could drop off food and drink items to those that are. Every little bit helps!
